One-on-one hypnosis sessions
are available in the offices of Mind Advantage at 1045 9th Ave. North, just a half mile north of downtown St Petersburg, Florida, on the west side of Tampa Bay. Clients are interviewed as to exactly what kind of change they are working on in their life, and the process of hypnosis is explained completely. The client is then given a hypnosis induction based upon the needs of the client, which is also recorded on audio cassette. The client is encouraged to listen to the recording at least once a day until a followup visit which is usually scheduled one week after the first.
The followup visit gives the hynotist an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of the first induction, as well as to identify any difficulties or resistance that may have been encountered during the first week. Another induction is usually given and recorded to fine tune the process of personal change.
Many issues are resolved with hypnosis in just one or two sessions. However, some deep seated issues requiring adjustment over a longer period of time require repeated visits. Clients may take as many sessions as they find necessary.
Smoking cessation
usually requires no followup visit. Clients are prepared by telephone beforehand so that the most effective hypnosis induction can be prepared to ensure their success. They are asked to prepare two lists: 1) a list of every situation that might trigger the smoking habit, such as having a cocktail or finishing a meal, and 2) a list of all the benefits they expect when they become nonsmokers, such as increased energy, social acceptability, and fresher breath. When the hypnotist is provided with these lists, it provides a basis for further discussion with the client so that the hypnosis induction to quit smoking is personally tailored to their situation. The personalized induction is much more powerful than group hypnosis inductions. The recording produced of the induction serves as added reinforcement for the client, and also serves as a backup.
